on Fits: Winter Staples

Winter is here, and that means that it’s time to bring out the heavy stuff. When it comes to fashion, I consider myself a bit of a savant. I layer like a motherfucker, (because I don’t check the weather before going outside), and have a wardrobe as versatile as my personality. Like plenty of other guys my age, my bank account isn’t quite thiccc enough to have the amount of quality fashionable items that one would desire. Through this struggle, I rely on what I call staple pieces.

black jeans

BLACK JEANS

Jeans are the only item of clothing guys wear until they literally fall apart (if you've ever experienced a crotch blowout, you know what I mean). They're my go-to pants for any occasion that doesn't require a suit, which is basically every day.

I usually get mine at J.Crew. If you want some for a fraction of that, H&M’s ain’t too shabby. If you want a real deal, ALLSAINTS jeans are currently 60% off.

t shirt

QUALITY T-SHIRTS

Men keep clothes forever. This is good when it comes to things that age well, like quality T-shirts and leather jackets, less good when it comes to most everything else. You get yourself some good t-shirts like these from Everlane at $30/pop and you won’t have to buy many more for the foreseeable future. You can also find quality for half the price over at Uniqlo. Either way, good layering piece.

suede

SUEDE JACKET

Alright, this one’s important. I’ve recently discovered suede jackets. Now I only own one: an olive green vegan suede trucker jacket from Banana Republic. But it’s fucking awesome. I’m going to wear it as much as I can for the next decade. Everyone looks better in suede, especially my ugly ass. The fact that this one is vegan is only cool because it’s considerably cheaper than real suede jackets, which start at $500.

boots

BOOTS

Doesn’t matter which way we cut it, there’s no way you’re spending less than $150 for the quality investment that is your new favorite pair of boots.

Dr. Martens Core 1460: $150

Astorflex Bootflex: $169

Thorogood 814-4200: $180

Timberland Classic: $190

Thursday Boots’ President: $199

socks

THESE FUCKING SOCKS

These are the greatest socks right now, in the world. I will bet my next paycheck on it. Gap’s socks currently sit at $10 a piece, but there is probably some sale going on through the end of the year on their site.
