on Fits: Layer, Layer, Layer

Layers are not only functional, keeping you warm throughout the day. They’ll also help you take an ordinary fit and make it 10x more interesting. It’s the single easiest thing you can do, if you do it right. Start practical. Keep the color scheme neutral. Below, some examples.

THERMAL HENLEY

Something about a clean white henley makes me stand taller when I have it on. I feel like a made man. There aren’t many things out there that are universally loved, but these are.

H&M: $6.99

OLD NAVY: $15

ASOS: $19.99

CORDUROY SHIRT

Throw one of these bitches on, and all of the sudden you’re cozy and intellectual. It’s crazy what a single piece of fabric can do for you. While you can get something like this in jacket form, a shirt is a bold move and an awesome layering piece to go in between that henley and your coat.

SUPERDRY: $54

LL BEAN: $54.99

LL BEAN (ALTERNATE): $89

LIGHTWASH JEANS

We’re picking these colors on purpose. It’s called fucking strategy. I think most guys go for a pair of darker jeans during the winter. Let ‘em. This is an easy way to make this fit pop. You should own at least a couple pairs of raw Japanese denim, but if you’re not looking to break the bank, H&M works fine. Full list of jeans I dig here.

NAVY COAT

You should already have one of these. They aren’t hard to find. This one from Topman is pretty great and sits at a cool $150.

The outfit is complete. You see how we kept the colors neutral throughout? They all compliment each other. The one piece that does stand out is the brown shirt. And since corduroy is such an interesting fabric, you want people to notice it. As for shoes, wear whatever you want. I don’t think you can go wrong with either boots or Killshots.
